Do’s and Don’ts of residence

September 8, 2009
By

DO
DON’T
DO get to know your R.A., don and sophs — your residence support team is made up of upper-year students who have been trained to guide you. DON’T smoke in your room — you will be caught.
DO get to know your roommate — take the time to find some common ground and you just might find you’ll become good friends, or at least be able to tolerate each other. DON’T commit floorcest — hooking up with someone in your residence can haunt you for the rest of the year. Trust us, the walk of shame you’ll have to make across your residence far outweighs the convenience.
DO participate in residence events — the info sessions and study events your R.A.’s and dons plan can be helpful and are a good way to meet other people. DON’T trash the residence — you have to live in it for the next eight months — why not make it a pleasant place to come back to?
DO attempt to make a slip and slide in the hallway — it will most likely fail, but try anyways. DON’T leave your laundry unattended — there’s nothing more irritating than going in to do laundry and finding clothes in a finished dryer with their owner nowhere to be found.

DO keep track of your meal card — avoid running out before the end of the semester by eating as much as you can in residence instead of using other on-campus food joints.
